“Room in the Inn,” FUMC’s homeless assistance ministry
Room in the Inn is a community collaboration of area churches who work together to provide a safe place within the church for homeless men, women and children to sleep during the hottest and coldest months of the year. While the concept is new in Fort Worth, it has been a well established ministry in Nashville, Tennessee for more than 20 years.

The ministry was started at FUMC in July of 2008. Each Thursday evening during the hot summer months, up to ten single homeless men will be able to find refuge from the heat in the Justin Youth Building. Room in the Inn will be available to the homeless every Thursday evening during the months of July and August at FUMC. All homeless guests are screened and recommended by the Day Resource Center.

Room in the Inn needs volunteers to provide an array of services to our visitors.

The following are service areas for which Room in the Inn needs volunteers:
► Transportation to and from the Day Resource Center for the homeless
► Set up Justin Building by putting linens on the beds
► Provide meals – both dinner and breakfast
► Provide an evening social activity for our guests – playing games, talking, etc.…
► Sleep over with our guests at the Justin Building
► Wash linens after sleepover each week
► Pray for Room in the Inn and our guests

If you are interested in any of the mentioned volunteer opportunities, please contact Rev. Page Hines at 817/335-6080 ext. 101, by email or register online using the link above.
